About Me

Hello! My name is Michelle and I’m a writer, editor, blogger and consultant who used to work behind a desk in a cubicle all day, every day, for many years. Then, on a fateful day in 2009, the company I worked for was hit hard by the recession and, like many other businesses in the country, was forced to lay off staff. Having worked there for over 6 years, the layoff came as a surprise, but also a blessing. After overcoming the shock, I sat down and started to think about what I wanted to do next. I knew that I didn’t want to go back into the corporate 9-5 world, so instead I chose to take my life in a whole new direction.

I had been writing stories nearly all my life, starting back in high school with tales such as the one I wrote about a talking deer who had to save a kingdom. After high school, I let writing fall by the wayside and it wasn’t until years later that I sat down in front of a computer and started writing again. At first the stories never left the safety of my computer, to be enjoyed by me and me alone. Then I got brave enough to start posting a few on public fanfiction forums and was amazed at the response I got. Still, I continued to treat writing as a hobby; just a fun thing I did in my spare time.

After the layoff though, I decided to take my love of writing and turn it into a career. Taking the advice of some friends, I started a blog where I reviewed my favorite television shows – only concentrating on the things I liked about the episodes, rather than the things I didn’t. Called ‘The Positively Positive’, the blog grew daily and while doing research for it one day, I came across a television news site called Daemon’s TV (now known as TV Equals).

Deciding to take a chance, I answered their ad looking for new writers on the site and was soon hired. I started out as a television reviewer for them, and then I moved on to doing everything from writing commentary articles, to doing phone interviews, penning a Supernatural column with another writer on the site, and eventually going on set visits to interview casts and crews from various TV shows including Covert Affairs, Necessary Roughness, Suits, Last Man Standing and many more.

In 2011 I attended Comic Con for the first time as an actual member of the press and did video interviews from the press rooms for shows like Supernatural, NCIS: Los Angeles, Being Human, Covert Affairs, Psych, Sanctuary, Eureka, Burn Notice and more.

Since those early days, my career as a TV journalist has continued to skyrocket and I’m proud to add many more sites to my resume, including BuddyTV, Celebuzz, SheKnows and TV Fanatic. If you’d like to read any of my articles, be sure to check out my Portfolio page for links.
